day 375

I see a pony. I see anchoring in. Hello #1
I'm feeling complacent as an artist so I'm giving myself a task. 100 hellos from the divine mother.
Update: this series finally ended up as 31 Hellos from the Divine Feminine.

day 367- c

And! here is the collaborative collage from the c-a-d party. It has really filled in since the 6 month celebration. I must say I really enjoyed hanging around the collaging table and just shooting the poop-de-doo with those who were flipping pages, cutting and glueing. It is actually my favorite way to socialize, and it was very validating to witness people participating so fully. What a treat.
Participants described their various states of being thusly: bleary, triumphant, excited, thristy, soft, loved, good, happy, Alert!, spaced out, calmed, interested.

day 367- b

This little collage was a part of my beloved's Interactive Audio Collage at the c-a-d party. It was very cool. Sound came from a Brian Eno app on his ipad. You could slide images from the sidelines onto the screen to alter the sounds that were being generated, and you could alter the background, texture, and colors to create a landscape. Each visual alteration also altered the soundscape. Neat.

day 367- a

So I haven't posted in a few days. But I did make a few collages on my days off. This one I made on the day of the c-a-d 1 year anniversary party. I think it suggests new horizons and things to be revealed. I have a new project or two floating around in my consciousness, but maybe will give myself some time to call it into being. I'm not ready to give up creative practice, but I think I'm ready to be a little more loosey-goosey about posting. Right now collagery is still apart of my life and I'm oh so happy to share it with you.

day 366

My creative life has spiraled and unfurled quite a bit since Dec. 1st, 2011, when I began the collage-a-day experiment. I have been a teacher for a long time, but this year I received a Teaching Artist Residency at a prestigious arts organization for the first time. Other teaching firsts since I began this project include public speaking about creative process and creative practice, a quickly growing passion of mine, and teaching private lessons. I have been a singer for a long time, and have performed in the classroom and onstage many times, but during this creative year I was hired not only to sing, but to act, and dance onstage. Who knew? Not me. It just sort of happened. I have been a songwriter for many years, but this year songs that have never seen the light of day found a live audience. I also found the bravery this year to create a very outside the box vocal recording that is debuting at a teaching artist exhibit this very week. The show, by the way, is Nine on the Prairie at Spudnik Press's Annex in Chicago. A reception and live performances will be held there this Sunday from 5-7pm. The thing about all these firsts is that these opportunities came about without a lot of effort, they simply unfurled one from another. I believe this is the magic of the creative practice. Allow yourself to create, and allow your creations to be the magnet for your next step.

day 365

Break on through tentative little elf! Remind us of our magic.

Also, 2012 is a leap year, so even though it's day 365, it's actually the penultimate day of my year's worth of collagery. Tune in tomorrow for the last day of my collage making year.

day 351

I went to Saks Fifth Avenue to buy you a gift, and this is who I ran into. She had just purchased a special hat. We chatted for a bit and had a cappucino.

day 350

Due to an ill timed evening nap, I'm posting this just past midnight in my time zone. But this collage is meant for Wed November 14th. Time to awaken!

day 341

It is time to plan a celebration for one full year of daily collagery. Where did all this collaging come from? Where does it lead? Let's find out. Please come if you can on Sat. Dec. 1st, 2012. 6-9pm. Gallerie Shermain (aka, my home) will once again host the event.

day 332

It seems like the collages are wrinkling and bubbling from the glue lately. I can't seem to stop it.
